I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness especially in the short term work. My work is also informed by attachment science. I also practice Emotion Focused Couples therapy and Psychodynamic therapy which comes up in longer term work.

I get to know you by asking questions about your life and what you are currently dealing with. I give some feedback and together we start to formulate a goal and a plan.

It depends on you, your situation and needs. Many clients attend 4 to 6 sessions to make significant progress in the short term. Later some return to do in-depth or long term work.

Generally nothing. They are the same thing and mean talking with a mental health professional. That said counselling is short term, and often involves skill building or practical help. Psychotherapy is using an established method to achieve a therapeutic goal.

My fees are 130 per 1 hour session.

No – If you are looking for OHIP covered services check with your family doctor first for options.

Yes, most benefits plans now include the services registered social workers. Check under psychological services in your benefits package.

Yes, for Blue Cross plan holders. For other insurance companies I provide a pdf receipt to submit for reimbursement.

Yes, I hold a limited number of counselling spaces at a 50% discount. Use the contact form to inquire.

I hope to resume in-person sessions when pandemic restrictions are lifted and my professional association recommends it.

Anything you disclose in sessions is kept private and not disclosed without your written permission.
There are some exceptions to this where I may be legally obligated to breach this privacy. These include an immediate risk of harming yourself or another person, a risk of harm to a child or senior, or a court subpoena.

Video counselling is provided using a platform conforming to medical privacy standards laid out in Pipeda and Phipa. Documents from the sessions are medical records and also protected according to these standards.
